MKJ is beautiful. Your layout is unique becaue I feel I'm *in* her time, present then, rather than the aged-distressed look that gives the feeling that I'm looking back. The pattern and her pose together make me feel as though she's welcoming me into her home. What a wonderful achievement.

Hi, Nesie,
Wow, as far as tips, I honestly just did what suited my grandmother, if that makes sense. She has always been teased about how when she dresses up now she wears a lot of brown or beige, so I picked a paper with brown, but that would go with something else. It just "suited" her, if you will. With my great-grandmother, the mother of the lady in this layout, I'm doing her layout in pinks because she always loved pink and (not to sound morbid) wanted to have a pink dress for her burial. I found beautiful pink floral patterns as well as a toile and I'm trying to decide between the two. My grandmother saved and saves everything so I'm lucky to have samples of handwriting and tons of pictures. Of course, I knew my great-grandmother as when she passed I was 18 so I have lots of memories I want to write about before they fade. Anyway, that's kind of how I'm doing mine. I'm looking at papers and "matching" them with the person. I think the browns and antique looking papers are nice, but it's also pretty to see black and white photos on beatiful colors like pink, blue, green, etc. I also plan to include a family tree chart. I have found papers with charts for the names as well as a place for a photo beside them. Just my humble opinion. : ) Hope it helps!

I started a heritage album for myself and hopefully to pass down to my son. I have loved working on this album so far and I've done layouts on my grandmother and my grandfather
