This summer my brother hiked the Appalachian Trail (Georgia to Maine) and this is a page about when I visited him in New York along his hike.
Bazzill cardstock, Chatterbox patterned paper, Nick Bantock ink, DMC embroidery thread, Making Memories rubons, paint, and stamps, Jolee's grill, Mica is US ArtQuest, Darice fibers, Stampabilities for compass stamp, Paper Company vellum, and Viner Hand ITC font.
Journaling reads: “As Andrew had been hiking the Appalachian Trail I had decided that when he came closer to New England I would visit him along the trail. I knew that the trail passed through Bear Mountain State Park, which had a picnic grove, so I figured it would be a perfect place to meet.
About a week before Andrew would reach there, he informed me that Sugar Daddy, a person he had been hiking with since pretty much the beginning, would be hosting a cookout there. So, on June 13th I headed to NY. Dad had a conference in the city, so he came with me.
As it turned out, Andrew’s (Haiku), Sugar Daddy’s, and Moonpie’s sisters would all be there, so they wanted to get a picture of the three of us together since the three of them had become such good friends. Plus it was Andrea’s (Moonpie’s sister) birthday, so there was a cake. Apparently when Sugar Daddy was buying the candles he discovered that the number zero was sold in a double pack, so instead of 30 Andrea became 300.
Sugar Daddy got that as his trail name because he always had candy to share with people. So for the cookout he got a piñata. First off, they are hard to break when all you have is a wiffle ball bat. Secondly, they are much more fun when you are younger. None of us seemed very excited about dashing for the candy, but the kids at one of the neighboring picnic tables loved coming back for more and more candy.”
