I made 2 different layouts for a Becky Higgins' sketch submission. While I liked this one, I thought it felt slightly off because the title didn't quite match the mood. I did, however, think it was an adorable little montage of my little boy.

Journaling reads:

You could have cared less that it was Hunter’s fifth birthday party. In fact, you’re still too young to understand what a birthday party is or that everybody was there for Hunter. You vied for as much attention as you could get and probably had as much fun as all of the other kids there, if not more.

It didn’t matter that you, at a mere 16 months old, didn’t participate in the breaking of the piñata. All you cared about was that you got a taste of a Tootsie Pop after it as all said and done. It didn’t matter that Momma and Daddy hovered over you, worried that the older kids would run over you. All you cared about was that you got the chance to go down the slide, swing in the swing, steer the fort’s steering wheel, and sit in a lawn chair all by yourself, just like a big boy.

You may not have understood that we were at Hunter’s birthday party, but you’ve certainly got the party aspect of life down to a science. I hope you’re always able to have as much fun, whether you’re playing by yourself or among a group of kids your own age. Live your life to the fullest, little man; it’s the only one you’ve got!
