In 2012, my dd was in 8 dances in her studio's recital. Three were tap dances, two of which were for Advanced Tap, and these are the formal group portrait and the dress rehearsal photos for one of those. Her class danced to a version of Take the A Train by Billy Strayhorn (made famous by Duke Ellington) along with the girls in the highest level tap class at her studio, Tap E. She's 15 here.

I always do a single page LO for each of her individual portraits that I try to match to the costume and song and a coordinating 2 page LO for the group portrait and action shots from the dress rehearsals. (I'm part of the stage crew for the shows, so I can only get photos at rehearsal - hence the casual state of the girls' hair and makeup, occasional lack of full costume and smiles, and sometimes, poor lighting. These aren't performance photos.) I decided back when she first started having multiple dances in the shows not to try and reinvent the wheel each time, so they all have this format - group shot on the left and action shots arranged across the rest of the 2 pages with pp and embellies that match the single portrait LO. When I have them, I like to include photos of the girls interacting with their instructor and each other during the rehearsal along with photos of the actual dance. There are 14 photos on this LO. You can see the single portrait LO for this dance as well as my other completed dance LO's in my Dance LO Album in my Gallery. The group portrait was taken by Cass Photography.

I used my Cricut and the Going Places cart to die cut the little cityscape on the top right and the 2 subway cars to give some little NYC touches to the page to go with the song. I die cut the tickets with my Cuttlebug out of silver glitter paper and edged them with a black Sharpie. I cut the 'A' in the circle in the title out of pp from the DCWV Alphabet Stack, and I hand stitched an outline around it with metallic braid. I machine stitched a black outline around the metallic silver cs. I used the fringe because of the fringe trim on the costumes. I used a vellum writer to write the day & time of the class, the instructor's name, the class level, and the names of the dancers on the slick metallic cs.
