The final stop of the tour was the Cavern Club which was not far from where we boarded the tour bus. We wanted to see the Cavern Club and then have a nice walk back to the ship. The Beatles performed at the Cavern Club 292 times in their earliest years. They were playing here when Brian Epstein discovered them and became their manager.

Many other bands performed at the tiny Cavern Club – The Rolling Stones, the Animals, the Who, Queen … the list is like a Who's Who of Rock & Roll. Even Chuck Berry performed there. The yclaim to be the most famous music club in the world!

We walked a few yards to the entrance to The Cavern Club. After admiring all the singers and bands engraved into the bricks on the front of the building, we took a few pictures outside the Cavern Club. (The picture on the previous page only shows a small fraction of the wall but it was impossible to get far enough away to get the wall in one picture.)

Then we went down a winding stairwell and soon we were standing in front of the spot where the Beatles were discovered. (Once you get all the way down to the club it is amazing how small it actually is.) The stage is by itself with open rooms on each side but no seating in front of the stage. The small rooms lining the walls on either side of the stage are all divided by open archways and everything is made of old brick.
