When I was a child, I loved these 2 photos of Grandpa taken in the wild, wild west. Well, when I saw them again decades later as a adult, I realized I'd been scammed. Just like those fun photo shops I visited in my youth for a tricked-out costume and stage set Victorian or 1920s photo, Grandpa had done the same thing in his youth. Well, of course, that lion ought to be a dead giveaway in the lower photo. But, the one on top shows 2 different stage sets on each side of the one where Grandpa is posing! What a laugh! The photos must be around 100 years old. They were taken in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

In the great art of paper cutting, I purchased this tissue cut horse more than 40 years ago at a school fair. I finally decided to use it in something!

The cowboy serial news clipping comes from something I found in great-grandma's scrapbook. This was the reverse side to something she hadn't pasted in.

The photos and news clippings are all copies of the original.

In real life, my grandfather was a mild mannered farmer. He never drank anything stronger than warm milk, in my memory! He had no interest in weapons either. Apparently he had dreams of a wilder life when he was younger, though!
