What a beautiful page, Elizabeth! I haven't been on Facebook much and I have missed seeing your lovely work! The journaling that you did for your boys is incredible and I am sure that they will enjoy learning about their heritage that way!
This page is amazing. I love all the beautiful pieces, flowers, love etc you place to enhance a gorgeous photo. I am so glad you are able to know the people in the photo and can tell the history. Heritage is important to me
Oh wowzers Elizabeth! This is stunning and that you have so much family history to share, that's priceless! I love your pps, your flower cluster work is amazing, and that family heritage picture is so priceless. FYI, My family (anuts and uncles were from AK and migrated to OK as well. My Father (Rest in peace) and daughter and her family are in OK too. Yep, I've got a bunch of oakies in my family! lol
Oh my friend, you did it again! This is so amazingly beautiful & the story only makes it that more special. I love all the elements you added to make this a WINNER! Thank you for sharing such a work of art!:))
Where to start on commenting what I like about this? Can I just say...I LOVE everything. From the masking on the background to your expert flower clusters. The best part is the photo and all the wonderful information about it. You have saved an inspiring story about your family to your sons. Isn't this the whole purpose of this crazy hobby? You managed to do that and do it beautifully.
Beautiful Memorable page Elizabeth!! Love your story about your family. Love all your techniques, beautiful flowers, RB gorgeous butterflies and clock.
This is STUNNING!!! I can tell you really pulled out all the stops to honor a treasured photo! I can't get over all the work you did on this - all the texture and layers and embellishments. WOW! (By the way, my father's family has roots in the Little Rock, Arkansas area from the turn of the last century.)
This is simply amazing. I particularly love your journaling that will be so important to those who come after you. I love the roses and the wonderfully crocheted flowers. Every inch is gorgeous. You do such detailed work.
A gorgeous way to scrap this wonderful family photo!!!! I love your chippies and tags and flowers, especially the crochet ones that "speak" of your memories of your beloved grandmother!

Fantastic at making your layouts they always have so much meaning.
This is just so stunning! Everything on this layout is amazing. My favorite part is the lower left. You turned the page up and have the sweetest heart and colored pearl with the lace by the crease. This is your best page yet!
Absolutely gorgeous! I love everything on this beautiful page especially the flower spray under the fantastic photo and the colors you used are so pretty.
This is a beautiful layout Elizabeth. Thanks for sharing some of your journaling. What an amazing family and story. Your stenciling and embossing are gorgeous and so many lovely details.
I am so happy to share this heritage layout with you. It has very special meaning to me. It features my Grandma on the left, with all her living brothers and sisters. This was the first layout that I did a lot of journaling in letter form to my boys, Sam and Dan, and I'm attaching it to the back of the layout. It tells a little about each one of them, with the exception of one aunt, (Delia). I was so blessed to know all of them, even though I had only met two of my aunts maybe once or twice when I was very young.
Bottom row L to R: Grandma (Lillie Mae), Aunt Coonie (whose real name was Lessie Thyra Irene Lucy Gladys). I don't know where they got the nickname Coonie, but that's what we always called her. When she married, her last name was Shirley! Next to her is Aunt Delia (Delie) and Aunt Ona (Onie). Back row L to R: Uncle TJ (my favorite), Uncle Hod (Horace), Uncle Roy D, Uncle Ross and Uncle Spud (Sanford). They grew up very poor but most of the brothers ended up being very prosperous. Uncle Spud was the oldest son and Aunt Ona was the oldest of the whole family. She lived well into her 90s and gave birth to 14 children. At her last family reunion it was said she had over 100 descendants.
They were all born in Arkansas and later moved to Maysville, Oklahoma with their parents. From what I recently learned, there were 3 other boys that died very young so there were 12 in all. This picture was taken most likely in the early 70s at a family reunion. Notice their clothing…most of it was double-knit polyester, which was the “in thing” at the time!
Uncles Spud and Roy D owned steakhouses in Duncan, Oklahoma and according to my Aunt Eva she thought the name of them was Goodners Steakhouse. I got to eat at one of their steakhouses as a young girl. Uncle Roy D was very wealthy and loved Cadillacs. He and his second wife, my Aunt Shirley, came out to California for my graduation and he let me drive his powder blue Cadillac with a white leather top on it for the last day of school. I was on Cloud 9!! He also had a huge house that was a mansion in us kids' eyes. It had huge bedrooms and a waterfall over rocks inside! Apparently he started out with a gas station and small store called Jot ‘em Down!
Uncle Spud had a very nice house also with a 5-acre backyard. I remember being amazed at how big his yard was. In 1972, Aunt Cleda took me, Grandma, Pat and Cis (my cousins) back to visit all my uncles in Oklahoma and also to visit Aunt Jerry and Uncle Oliver in Dodson, Texas. It was a very special summer for me.
Uncles TJ and Ross lived in Lindsay, Oklahoma and owned several Mr. G's grocery stores, and if I'm not mistaken their stores were in Lindsay and Duncan also. Uncle Hod lived in California City, California, and was a superintendent of the Merbisc golf course. Aunt Eva said pro-golfers loved to golf there because the greens were in such good shape, thanks to Uncle Hod. California City was the windiest city I've ever been in and it was hot and dry too. Uncle Hod owned a cranberry colored Cadillac at one time and he also loved Buicks, according to my brother, Robert. All of my great-uncles were wonderful, loving, generous, hard workers and God-fearing. I loved them all, but was especially fond of my Uncle TJ. My Aunt Eva said he was a “change of life” baby. He was the youngest of the siblings and served during WWII. I have a copy of a picture of him on top of the Empire State Building that was a post card he wrote to Grandma.
Grandma was a very special lady, a hard worker and supported her family by working in the fruit sheds and where ever else she could get work when Poppy wasn't earning money for the family. She gave birth to four girls, Aunt Cleda, Aunt Jerry (Geraldine), my mom Mary, and Aunt Eva. Grandma was a wonderful cook and she kept a clean house. She loved to garden, can foods, crochet and sew.
I didn't know Aunt Delia and Aunt Ona very well. Aunt Coonie was a character and I remember she liked to crochet as well.
Just about all of the Goodners were very loud in their talking, especially Uncle Hod and Aunt Coonie. (These are excerpts from the journaling.)
About the layout - I used Stamperia Dream and Shabby Rose papers. The little tag at the bottom right is also Stamperia and was given to me by Carri. Special thanks to her for that, as well as the lace in the corners, the beautiful Wow! Vintage Peacock embossing powder that I used on the grungepaper flourishes, the blue flowers, crocheted flowers, the pink pearls, Tu-Tu Pink mini prills and the little safety pin on the scrunched up bow! Thank you also to Marylou for the Ice Queen mini prills.
The gorgeous Beautiful Board clock that I heat embossed with Stampendous Shabby Pink embossing enamel and the butterflies are from Reneabouquets.
Items not listed:
The flourishes that I embossed were what I'm assuming to be Tim Holtz grungepaper and were cut. I got them at the local Salvation Army store with some scrapbooking supplies! Pink flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts Bling and lace at top, green leaves under crocheted flower, as well as resin roses from Pamela Joy Boutique on FB Pearl border, pendant under clock and bottle with pearls from HL Shank buttons from Walmart
Thank you so much for visiting my gallery. I hope I didn't bore you with all the journaling!
