Replaced original image for one that has Trevor Keiss autograph. I took the lo to one of the WVU Women's Basketball games and asked him to sign it.
The pics are from the Mountaineer Mantrip on our home opener, last week.
Hidden Journaling reads: The beginning of the 2011 WVU football season was also the very first Mountaineer Mantrip and the beginning of a very important WV tradition.
It was designed to give WVU a specific way to kick off game day, fire up the tailgaters and to honor the state and the coal mining heritage it has been so blessed with.
A Mantrip is a shuttle for transporting miners into and out of coal mines.
The Mantrip begins approximately two and a half hours before kickoff.
It is approximately 300 yards from Don Nehlen Drive and the Northeast entrance to the stadium.
Once the Mantrip enters the stadium, each Mountaineer lays hands onto the large, permanently mounted piece of coal. The piece is from the Upper Big Branch mine, where 29 miners lost their lives on April 5, 2010.
The firing of the Mountaineer Mascot's musket is the signal that the Mantrip has begun. He leads the procession followed by the cheerleaders, The Pride, Coach Dana Holgorsen and staff, and then finally the players!
It has become one of the most anticipated events of the pregame festivities!
