Pictures from Avignon, left to right is St. Pierre church, entrance to the Palace of the Popes (nine popes resided here), and Notre-Dame des Doms cathedral. The papacy was in Avignon from 1309 to 1376 and after the schism. Palace of the popes is the largest Gothic palace.
