Have you visited Swirlydoos lately? Lots of stuff going on: challenges, tutorials and, on the Blog, an Education Team made up of DT members and featuring some amazing technique videos that will have you trying out new "stuff" while creating projects to be proud of.
The DT has also been hosting a Swirl-a-Palooza on the Forums with a lot of fun project and challenges. LisaV uploaded a batch of old seed packet images to use any way we wished. In her example, she used the image transfer technique with sticky-back canvas and that inspired me to come up with this.
I started out by spraying the canvas with Glimmer Mist. When that was dry, I used a Prima mask to apply Super Heavy Gesso that I colored with more Glimmer Mist. Then I went through my Dusty Attic stash and selected the perfect chippies. I primed it all with Picket Fence Stain then colored the leaves and stems with green Stains. The flowers were painted with Lindy's Magical Micas. (Too bad the camera can't pick up how glittery they are...) The clouds were painted with Claudine Hellmuth gesso. Some Swirly rosebuds, a Shabby Chic birdcage and a quote from Gertrude Stein printed out on more sticky back canvas were all I needed to complete this project.
