The watercolor resist pen lets you apply masking fluid in a controlled manner, and gives you the ability to make thick and thin lines and dots. After you paint your design, you simply peel the resist off to reveal the white of the paper. It emulates a batik look. While I was using this product I discovered it was also a great foil glue. While this is not what the product was created for, it was a fun discovery. In this demo I will show you how to use it as a resist and a foil glue. ~ Christine

Step 1) Lightly sketch a floral design onto watercolor paper. You want to keep it very light because the watercolor is transparent and you can see the pencil lines if they are too dark.

Step2) Gently squeeze the resist pen to draw over the sketch and create lines and doodles in the leaves and flowers. Allow the rest to dry.

Step 3) Begin painting in the flowers and leaves. Experiment with blending the analogous colors within the petals such as purple to pink.

Step 4) Paint in the background.

Step 5) When the paint is dry, begin removing the resist over certain flowers and keep on others.

Step 6) Place transfer foil color-side up on top of the resist glue and lightly burnish. Pull up the foil to see the foiled outlines.
