As most of you know, Ryon and I went to Vegas for the NFR this past weekend. I ran a horse feed promotion this summer and the 4 dealers with the highest horse feed sales got to go with us to Vegas for three days. We flew out there on Saturday morning, and when I got to the baggage claim in Vegas, I was a little surprised at what I found. I saw it go around the carousel once and told Ryon "someone's luggage got thrashed". Then it came around again and I realized "Oh God, That's Mine!!!!" So, we went to the Southwest baggage counter and as soon as I walked up she said "You're from Amarillo right? They just called us about your suitcase". My suitcase showed up on the carousel in a huge plastic bag (the one sitting inside it) and all of the contents that survived were in the plastic bag. We had to go through piece by piece to determine what was destroyed so they could cut me a check to replace it. (However, I didn't worry about going through my underwear--I just threw them into the replacement duffle bag they gave me and figured I'd cut my losses). All in all, they cut me a check for $230 to cover all the toiletries, brand new Nikes, brand new jean jacket, etc. that was destroyed, and I have to get my receipt for my prescription glasses from the vision center and a cost of replacement for my Maltese Cross belt that were also destroyed. Apparently when you tell them that you had a $200 silver belt and a $150 pair of glasses, they don't just add that into the check amount. They're also fed-exing a new suitcase to me from Vegas. Needless to say, this one is out of service! The last pic is of some of the crosses that came off my silver belt. They said that in Amarillo , my bag fell of the cart that takes it to the plane for loading. Apparently they ran over it, drug it, and then blew it up. Anyway, a little humor for your Tuesday morning! By the way, I'll be going shopping tonight to start replacing everything that got ruined!
