The damage left behind from the EF1 tornado that passed through our area this morning. The force of the winds were worse than any hurricane we had ever experienced here before, with so much lightning! It left as fast as it hit! I had been up since 2am because I couldn't sleep. The weather had been rough throughout the evening and I didn't think anything of the rain I was hearing at 4am. Just your typical thunderstorm and heavy rain hitting the rooftops. By 6am I woke the kids up and had them sheltered in the bathroom. The power went out at 4am, when the weather started getting rough, and did not come back on until noon time later that day.

Being the power was out and everything happening so fast we had no warnings from any media source to inform us of what was heading toward us. Just luckily, hubby & I had gotten up when we started hearing the heavy rains. We were short of batteries for flashlights and the portable radio! UGH! But like if we even had time to grab those things anyway!

Thank the goodness of our lord for all of our 5 senses, we were able to witness and get through this horrible morning alive and well!

In the nearby field you can see the path of the winds' course it took. It looked like a rather large monster trampled his path and left a wide pathway through the grassy & wooded areas behind our home.

And today I am thinking, as much as I love chasing storms, why in the hell didn't I grab my darn camera? LOL (laughing?) yeah right huh? like I had even time for thinking...period!

And that was just an EF1 mind you!
This is nothing compared to what happend further into town and around us.
