What a dreadful experience this mut have been for you. Our daughter lives in North Andover, MA and they too suffered from the ice storm and were without electricity for 12 hours - but still considered themselves fortunate.

Ice Storm 12/11/08 The Aftermath

Finally Friday afternoon the sun poked out and it was still cold so the ice didn't melt. The trees were breaking from 11:00 p.m. the previous night till noon Friday. When I say they were snapping or falling every 5 to 10 seconds...believe me there is no exaggeration there!!! Every tree broken to some degree, every power line down or tangled in broken limbs.
