The Apache until recently were nomadic people, but once confined to the reservation and settled into villages they would build these fantastic clay hornos (same as Spanish). This was Saturday at the Apache Harvest Festival which was a celebration of traditional foods and cooking methods. We had a great time and the stews in the pots and the bread from the horno were delicious. DH agreed that we could certainly benefit from having something like this on a smaller scale!
