Thought I would share a little photography and story with you about these pictures I took...

A few weeks ago my husband was outside and tapped on the living room window and said "bring your camera", so I grabbed it. He showed me a female Anna's hummingbird hanging upside down from our dogwood tree in a torpor state. The male was about 4 feet away in our Althea bush making a scolding noise. He sat there or would fly back and forth from one bush to another all the while we were standing about 3-4 feet away, while I snapped pictures. You could tell he was upset with his mate. Finally, I guess he got tired of us being so close to him and his mate he flew over to her and continued scolding. Now the disappointing thing about it all...I missed getting a picture of the most amazing thing we'd ever seen because I was shifting my position and wasn't fast enough. That male flew over to her and picked her up off that branch and carried her away, most likely to their nest!! I guess he feared for her safety with us around. It was so unreal and miraculous!!
