This is my LO for the scrap the same pic challenge - What it means to be an American

I got the idea from a project I had to do a few years ago when I was still in school. I'd made a scrapbook (big surprise) on what it meant to be an American...and when I was reading through it, it struck me how off base I had been at the time. So I decided to go back to that idea.

I printed the flag on canvas (I swear, before I saw that somebody else had done it) and inked the edges. I think it also got some water dropped on it at one point, which made for some nice splotchiness (thanks to my lovely parakeet, RhiRhi)

I also took the other two pics especially for this lo. Gotta love that self timer on the camera. I made everything but the flag black and white.

The flag and everything on top flips up to reveal another pic and lots of hidden journaling. The journaling can be read Here: http://www.scrapbook.com/scrapbook_layouts/showphoto.php/photo/90405/cat/500/page/1 I wrote it on notebook paper to go along with the old 'essay' idea, as that's how the original started out, before I made it into a scrapbook LOL.

I'm really happy with how this turned out. Even if I'm sure that in another three or four years I'll read it and go "wow, was I off base."

Thanks for looking everyone!

Bobbi
