I've been creating mixed media canvas for graduation gifts for my daughter's friends who all will be going off to college. I've created several of these as inspiration for them. This one was so much fun to do. I love hexagons and used one of my favorite basic grey paper lines for the large hexagons, Origins. I even dry embossed the bee base before adding black embossing powder and some distress crayon. I wanted them to have some texture. There is paper texture paste through a hexagon stencil which I added some distress glaze to it before it dried. Also added some spray stain to make the stencil stand out more. The background is rice paper, that is a wood grain, which I love and works great on canvas. There is some stamping and with archival ink using various stamps and some ephemera elements. I also outlined the hexagons with stabilo black pencil and smeared it with water to create shadowing as well as inking the edges with black ink. All in all, this canvas came out beautifully in my opinion. Let me know what you think? Also, should I start creating some of these for my shop?
