This is the cigar box I made for Corky for the Cigar Box Swap hosted by Laura here on sb.com. Corky mentioned her favorite colors gravitated toward turquoise and greens and that she loves butterflies. After looking through my entire collection of papers, I ran across my old DCWV Mariposa Stack with this lovely butterfly paper. It was 12x12 and I had to cut it down, like Laura did on one of her boxes.

But first, I used Gesso over the entire box except for the top since I knew I would be using papers. In the next pictures that follow, you will see I did not use papers around the edges, but colored it up with two spray mists. I then fussy cut around the edges of the butterfly paper, inked the edges, then glued it all down. After all that, I glued down the inside papers and used Mod Podge Spray High Shine Gloss over all to seal it. Then came the decorating!

I used Reneabouquets Beautiful Board doily, clock, angel wings, butterflies, ivy vines and Printed Beautiful Board fairy, as well as Chunky Glitter Glass in lime green and diamond on the roses.

The turquoise paper under the focal piece is DCWV Timeless Texture stack.

The papers were glued down with Mod Podge Matte finish.

On to the next pictures....
