NO GUTS, because I don't carve into the slimy pumpkin innards (guts) but just carve the surface with a linoleum cutting tool. Many of my word designs originate on the computer. I play around with different fonts and unique spacing/placement before I print it out, sometimes having to tape multiple sheets together, and then transfer it to the pumpkin's surface with old-fashioned carbon paper. The black on some designs is from a Sharpie pen.
