Other people who came to celebrate Larry’s ordination with us: Members of the call committee from Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Members of the intern committee at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and members-at-large from both churches. It was a wonderful day for all of us.

Larry's father was in a nursing home near Wilmington, NC,
and unable to attend Larry's ordination ceremony because he had had a stroke a couple of months earlier and could no longer communicate.
Larry went to talk to his dad before the ordination and told him about it.
His dad cried, which we interpreted as his grief that he could not come to the ordination,
but he reached out and pulled Larry to him, and kissed him all over his face.
He couldn't talk any more, but he could remember how to kiss, and that was his way of telling his son how much he loved him.
