Very cool two pager and you did a superb job on journaling the trials and tribulations of a triathlete! Kudos to schrubby for finishing in the top 10, that is just awesome.
SHCG - M'dear, I glanced at this whilst I was away & couldn't wait to spend more time w/ it. This is simply sublime. I love the journaling & the white paper is not only what the all-important subject preferred, it also echoes some of the white accents throughout the LO, helping to unify the supersporty multi-color scheme here. The placement of photos is amazing - love the left w/ the large photo/circle photo juxtaposition as well as the spread on the bottom; then super how you depicted each event on the right side. And love those little hand cut guys w/ the red shapes under them. Congrats to your schrubby! What an incredible feat, & within such a short amount of time! I don't doubt the love & support of his awesome #1 fan played a big part in his success. ;)
SHCG: Awesome LO! Your journaling captures the story perfectly. I love how you created the people from the brochure! The grouped matted photos are inspiring! I love that! The colors go well together. Great job!
SHCG: I love this lo! The colors from the photos stand out terrificly against the colors of the LO. I love the details of the red paper and the cutouts of the yellow dudes. Your journaling is heartfelt and sweet.
SHCG: Great LO! I really like that you used the notebook paper to journal on! Love how you did the photo matting, very cool! Great colors and those little yellow men are great :)
SHCG: Brenda, this entire layout is fabulous! There are so many elements that make it fabby! I love the alternating rounded corners, especially that they tend to "lead" (for lack of a better word) the eye to the second page. Perfect. I love the triple mats. Why? Because I am the QUEEN of triple (we won't mention the more) mats! <insert maniacal laugh here> The looks on schrubby's face are priceless! The journaling is heartfelt and poignant. Love it! I am glad that Aaron talked you into the white paper because I like it. Legal pad yellow may have been too much. This is just right! Finally, the bottom row of action shots are a perfect summary of the events and I totally dig 'em. I have to include that I adore your little action icons. They are the perfect addition as embellishments to this page. I love the garnet colored arrows that add so much motion to the page and really complete the theme. Supa-dupa fly. (This is a compilation of the single pages in the layout. :-)
SHCG: Oh wow! I cannot believe you cut out those little yellow men. I really thought they were die-cuts until I read the journaling. I think this is a wonderful two page layout! At first glance I could think of nothing to change, so after studying it I only have two suggestions. The swim, bike, run letters on the second page really stand out. To balance the two pages could you think of anything to write in those letters for the first page? My second suggestion is that I love the three star brads on the first page and wonder if you could put three more star brads on the upper left corner of the second page. That spot looks a little blank to me and I think it would draw my eye from the first page to the second page.
SHCG: I am absolutely in love with everything in this LO. Love how the right side is divided to showcase each of the parts of the triathalon. Those little yellow men are awesome! The only thing that i feel is slightly off is that every element of the page is bordered with the yellow except the notebook paper. I might have also matted that.
SHCG: You did the most amazing lo with 11 photos! The positioning of everything is great! Love the title and the little stars! I love the way you the sub titles on each group of photos! I think the rounded corners are a nice touch! The yellow men that you cut are just amazing-add so much to this page! YAY, for your dh being part of the triathlon! I think he made a good choice to keep the note book paper white!
This is the first two-page spread of two for the SHCG Week #39 WC which was to creat a lo about the men in our lives. I chose my schrubby. The fifth draft of my handwritten journaling (and I'm still not completely happy with it) reads: Within the last year you had expresed a passing interest in our gym's annual triathlon. Then three weeks before the race, you decided to begin training, but you doubted your ability tohold your own among what you thought could be some scary competition. You even considered putting it off until next year, but with some encouragement, you made the commitment and entered two weeks before the competition. Even then, you wavered between enrolling in the competitive and reacreational categories. Again, with some convincing you stuck with the competitive group where you belonged. You continued to train although you remained unsure about how you'd fare against the rest, especially since you had only trained the equivalent of a week. On the day of the race, you tried to appear calm as you nervously sized up the competition, opted not to wear your new swim cap in favor of comfort, and joked about your tight swim trunks. A cool, overcast morning, the conditions were perfect and the race kicked off with your weakest event-swimming, but you surprised even yourself when you completed your laps a minute sooner than you had in training. You blasted past your competition in your strongest event--biking--and made excellent strides in the running event. Not only did you finish the race, you placed in the top ten, proving to yourself what I've always known--you are a winner! Like your zodiac sign, you are an unassuming mountain goat who steadily climbs his way to the top. You are a paragon of strength. You are amazing. I am so very proud of you. I love you, and I forever remain your biggest fan. [Moi, thanks for the pen! It was perfect for this lo.] The yellow men on the right page are images from the t-shirt that our gym gave the triathletes for participating. I drew them and cut them out from cs.
