Yet another Disney layout. All the paper and embellies came from a Disney-theme kit.

Journaling: If there is only one reason why most kids want to go to Disney World, it's because they want to meet Mickey Mouse and all his friends. This was certainly the reason I wanted to go to Disney World as a kid, and Claire was no different. The minute she first heard about our trip to Florida, she wanted to know all about the characters she'd get to meet. Of course, I gave her a list of Disney "standards" - the Princesses, Mickey, Minnie, Daffy, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, etc. But boy, were we in for a surprise! Not only did we see all those characters, but we got to meet many more from a wide range of Disney movies. No matter which park we visited - Animal Kingdom, Epcot or Magic Kingdom - we bumped into so many familiar faces. There was Lilo and Stitch; Buzz Lightyear; Chicken Little; Pumba and Timon from the Lion King; Aladdin, Genie and Jasmine; Snow White; Cinderella; Belle from Beauty and the Beast; and so many others. What really amazed us was Claire's willingness to approach each one. This was the girl who hesitated with Elmo the summer before and who demanded I go with her to see Santa for the past two years. Yet at Disney World, she was so comfortable. It helped that in most cases, we had to wait in line a little to visit with the characters. Claire had the opportunity to watch the characters in action with the other kids. By the time her turn came up, she was ready to go, confident that the characters were in no way scary or intimidating. She carried a little autograph book with her and each character signed it with a flourish and gave her a big hug. In fact, I think I heard a smooch coming from some of them, too. The pictures we snapped of Claire with her friends are priceless. In every single shot, Claire is smiling, totally at ease and confident. These pictures remind me that she is such a big girl now - not the little baby who would cling to our arms or seek us out for reassurance whenever she was put with someone new. It was the magic of Disney World that brought out this confident and excited side of Claire. After all, if you can't be yourself around your friends ...
