I could have sworn I commented on this! I know i mentioned old car photos and how much I like them.
You do such a wonderful job of preserving history for your family with all of your journaling. I feel like I am getting to know you just by reading these.

A tribute to my Uncle Eddie, my mother's sister's husband.
My Aunt Billie (Mommy B and my Uncle Eddie met when Eddie went to my maternal Grandmother's home to catch a ride back to Ellington AFB with my Daddy. It was December 7, 1941. A friend of my Aunt's called to tell them of the attack on Pearl Harbor; they turned the radio on and all stood around crying. A day or so later, Daddy went home to his parents' in Missouri. When he arrived there, a telegram was waiting telling him to get back to Ellington.
Uncle Eddie went on to win 5 bronze stars. He was in communications. He made a cook out of a German soldier who surrendered to him. The guy asked to be shot as it was a disgrace to be captured or to surrender. When Eddie found out the Germans had imposed a curfew on the townspeople of a small French town, after they were freed, he held a street dance to celebrate and was made Mayor of the town. Mommy B says Eddie talked little about it. Even though he was asked to go to Officers' School, he only wanted to finish and get out. He was a "good ole foot soldier".
