SHCG: Brian, this is such fun! I love your innovative use of items to be discarded (let's don't have "trash" mouth). I love the black and that rusty red color. I would like to see the "hello" ripped paper inked with red ink to create more flow with the red "bcf" and then have the outside border inked with red, as well. This is totally rad and I love it!
SHCG: So innovative. I love seeing ephemera on a project. I'd like to see the torn piece in white, because the yellow seems to dull the sentiment. Then, I think the sentiment needs to be embossed so that it stands out more. I like the green to complement the red, and I'd suggest that you go over the glitter with another layer, since it seems to have dissipated a little after drying. Great eye to see the creative potential in these cool wrappers. The bird is another great touch.
SHCG: This is awesome, I would have never quessed this was from a pack of gum LOL I love this card, the bird is so cool and I like the glitter but it would go better in another color ~ like black distress stickles. Maybe you can go over it in another color, just a suggestion. As for your question: how about foil, you could cut a square and punch holes in it, it would look like that mesh/netting stuff KWIM? Soda cans cut up, those plastic tabs that keeps the bag of bread closed, cut up net baskets that fruit comes it. If I think of anymore ideas I'll let you know :)
SHCG: What a cool idea! I never would've guessed this was made of trash! I do agree the glitter is a bit out of place - maybe you could add some more glitter accents (triangles? dots?) in the empty corners to tie it in a bit?? Future ideas: I've been collecting fun clothing tags (the cardboard-y ones that are sometimes attached with the pricetag), postcards, product packaging, etc.
SHCG - I love this card - such an edgy, industrial yet whimsical & charming collage. And SO COOL that you used gum wrappers! For future gum wrappers, you could staple 'em down, that would continue the edgy look AND adhere the wrappers. But I think this is a marvelous already card already! (I thought about maybe suggesting highlighting the initials a bit but I'm not sure if that would be too much or not...) To answer your question from the LO thread re: reusing trash, sheesh, there's so much to reuse out there! Adding to what Chris already said, I use wrapping paper, magazine clippings, postcards, greeting cards, bits of photo backgrounds from when I crop other photos... Pretty much if it can be adhered down & not be too bumpy, it can be used for papercrafts in my book, LOL! :o)
I completely agree about the glitter. It was used to solve a problem. The silver wrap part would not stay glued down, so I needed to kind of pin it down. I did try to find my most "industrial" color to make up for the ill fitting material used. :D I may see if I can't tone the sparkle down a bit before sending it though.
SHCG: cool reusing/recycling of materials. You can always try: cardboard, the chipboard backs of notepads, buttons and fabric from clothing... As for this particular card, the glitter glue stands out as an oddity on this card. I think some form of distressing (roughed up edges or inking) would be better suited than the glitter. Very cool card!
