Well well well...it's been a while since I'd done a non-baby layout! Of course, these pics are pre-babies. No special occasion, just photos from when we took a stroll along West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz. 12x15 layout. Thanks for peeking!
- Made chipboard letters for the title by painting a coat of white and two shades of blue on chipboard. Sanded the edges. Added letter stickers. Finished with a coat of Diamond Glaze on top. Made holes at tops to tie ribbon.
- Made first letters of title with chipboard. Painted coat of white paint and edged with blue paint. Stamped letters with MM foam stamps and silver Colorbox inkpad.
- Bottom left photo double matted and 3D. Had 2 of the same print. Cut out silhouette of me and dh. Mounted onto other copy with foam stamps. Can't really see the dimension this adds in the scan. Oh well.
- Made the metal hinge by punching out the design from craft metal. Folded rest of metal rectangle behind mats to act as hinge.
- Embellished hinge & photo with strands of fiber and two metal charms.
- All journaling is hidden behind the picture.
- Created belt & loop closure behind the bottom left photo to keep it closed and in place. The "belt" is strip of paper that is adhered to the back of the background paper. It is loose in the front and slips into the loop of cardstock that is mounted behind the photo mats.
Journaling:
"There is nothing like a beautiful day at Santa Cruz in the middle of October. While the rest of the country is starting to freeze their buns off, we’re enjoying the annual “Indian” summer. This time of the year is the best – all the kids are back in school, the tourists are gone and the weather is warmer than it typically is in the summertime. Most of the people hangin’ out are locals and the “crowded” feeling is gone from the boardwalk and bike trails.
This was just a random gorgeous day where the sun was bright and the skies azure blue. My movements were slowing with the growth of my stomach; I was three months pregnant. Every book I’d read about having twins stressed that I slow down and cut back on my activity, regardless of how great I felt. Too many women were feeling great at this stage and never slowed down – they ended up with premature births. We went through too much to have these babies, it wouldn’t hurt me to take time out and melloooooooooooooooow. So, a walk at the beach on a gorgeous, beautiful day with my husband seemed to be just the thing."
