Christmas is my favorite time of year. It’s a time for
celebrating the birth of our Savior... A time for family
gatherings and exchanging gifts with those we love. A time when traditions matter... When even people who can’t carry a tune sing along to the music... When all the petty things we allow to build up between us melt away under the twinkle of the lights... When the stress of life dissappears under the
mistletoe... And everything is sprinkled with the magic of the season... When food doesn’t have calories and dessert is a given... When the world embraces peace... And each person puts another before himself... When all is as it should be... This is my favorite day of the year... And this year was no
exception. This was my first Christmas without my parents, sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins... It was the first Christmas Eve I didn’t spend at Nana’s house... And the first Christmas morning without my parents... It was my first
Christmas being divorced, and my first Christmas outside of Maine... But it was also my first Christmas being with the love of my life... And my first Christmas with children... It was my first Christmas in my new home... and the first Christmas I could go outside without freezing to death... It was my first year not being considered one of “the kids” because there is another generation after me now... And it’s just so amazing... It adds another dimension to everything... Up until now Christmas was a beautiful melody sung all around me, but this year... this year there’s a harmony welling up from within me... with notes of joy and chords of love... And I feel like I finally get it... It really *is* a Merry Christmas Indeed.
