Reid has enjoyed kayaking since his older brother Tim introduced him to it a few years before we met. Something about getting in a small plastic boat and hurtling himself down raging rivers actually appeals to him, don’t ask me why! He’s always enjoyed being in the water, and the challenge and athleticism of it just goes with his nature I suppose. While we were dating and early in our marriage he would go kayaking almost every weekend during the summer. We live in one of the best places in the world to hone whitewater skills, and he definitely took advantage of that. Then the kids were born and free time came at a much higher premium. Things like kayaking had to take a back seat to parenthood. Recently though, a whitewater “play park” was constructed on the river bottom near our house and made starting to kayak again a much more viable option. He’s re-connected with a lot of his kayaking buddies, dusted off his gear and realized just how out of shape he’s gotten in the last few years! But he’s as passionate about it as ever and I see a lot more kayaking in his future!
I handmade alllllllll the little chipboard pieces for the mosaic and yes, it was VERY time consuming - lol! I'm happy with the effect though.
