Ok, so I already used these two pics (in a smaller size) on the layout I made for dh for Father's Day this year. BUT these are two of my favorite pics ever of dh with our girls, so I had to do a lo for our family scrapbook that's 12x15. Sooooo, the photos are about 5x15 in size. LOL
- waves are made of texture paste and rub-ons for color
- wrote "Hold my hand" on shrink plastic
- made "Pappa" out of chipboard, covered in cardstock and inked
- photos were mounted on chipboard, edges inked, then outlined in cheesecloth (that had been inked for an old, distressed look)
- lots of microbeads, shells, sea glass, hemp, burlap for dimension and the sandy, grimy, beach-y feeling
- all journaling and poem was printed on transparency and mounted with white paint onto cheesecloth
Poem on right page:
"Pappa, would you hold my hand and walk me to the shore?
I see the waves are crashing.
I hear the ocean’s roar.
The water is washing up on the sand.
I want to go explore.
And if you’ll stay right by my side, I’ll feel so safe and free.
To scream and run along the beach, if you’ll watch over me."
Journaling:
"A daytrip to Seabright Beach on Memorial Day proved very entertaining with our 14 month old girls. We visited the beach just a few weeks earlier and they were not very happy about getting anywhere close to the water. We believe it was because the sound of the crashing waves was rather loud. Moreover, the water was freezing cold, as it usually is this time of year.
But today, the girls were curious…and bold. Their curiosity was peaked. The sounds of the crashing waves only made them stare and wonder. The water washing up on the sand made them question why their footprints suddenly disappeared. The coldness of the water…well, that was still something to be avoided. But still, why does the water run away? Where does it go? Where does it take the footprints? All of these questions seemed to run across their faces as they creeped closer and closer to the water’s edge and disappeared instantly as the waves caught up to them. Of course, Mommy and Pappa were there to whisk them away from the incredible coldness of the ocean.
“Whew! That was close…but Mommy, put me down. I want to see where my footprints went.” May 30, 2005"
