I'm going to write this out in the form of a letter to my daughter!! WOW can you believe it, MY daughter!
Dearest Evelyn, Oh how your mommy has prayed and longed for you every single day. Words will never explain the place you have in my heart and have had for well over a year.. I have imagined and daydreamed about how you would come to us, how the Lord would provide! Today, we got the answer! But further back, one week ago today the adoption agency called us and let us know that your mother was looking at our album and was very interested. We waited for a full week, 7 days that seemed like an eternity with no word, simply silence. The waiting was anguish... Simply painful and sweet little one, last night I was completely falling apart, I wanted to know, was this mother carrying you??
This morning I got an e-mail from the agency saying that your mother was coming in to make her choice today. A few hours later I got the phone call! She had chosen us to be your mommy and daddy!!! OH what joy!!! I had to sit down while I was on the phone, I was shaking and fighting tears of pure delight! OH you are coming, it is still sinking in.... It is ALMOST time to hold you, I am thrilled beyond thrilled that I know now that you are not only on the way but that I will hold you in only one month... I will snuggle you and look into your gorgeous brown eyes! I know something of what you will look like and I am still shaking every time I think about it!! Oh Evelyn, it's almost time... almost time to hold you my sweet sweet baby girl! I can hardly wait... I can hardly contain myself!! Your aunt and I went shopping right away (she was here with me when I got the call) We had SO much fun imagining you and picking out perfect little clothes for you... OH how I can hardly wait to see you in them!
Your daddy and your brothers did a dance around the living room tonight and sang, "we're getting a baby girl" over and over!! OH the light in your daddy's eyes, he is already so in love with you!! We ALL are!
