This is a watercolor I just did for my daughter's friend Suzanne. She is now 17 and she wanted to give this to her parents for Christmas. This is her and her brother when they were young. I thought what a thoughtful gift to give her parents, so how could I resist doing it for her? I also know her parents very well and it was such a pleasure to paint for someone the I know and love as well as paint the the individuals I know and love. I wish I could only be there on Christmas morning when they open it up, I am sure it will shead a few tears. I am going to mat and frame it for her so it is ready to hang. I will post a pic of the finished painting when all matted and framed. The frame she bought is kind of the colors in the tree so it should look awesome. I personally do not like to do portraits, but hey every once in a while you have to go outside the box you are comfortable in. Although I must say I am quite please with how this turned out.

Trace's hair gave me a fit.. it is super thick and curly, but it is cut short here and so it is just like a bowl kind of haircut.. kwim? it was like just perfect in this pic and nothing out of place.. LOL.. kind of like he had a plastic wig on.... LOL... so it was killing me but I finally had to just give it up as not to overwork my paper and end with a huge muddy mess as well as damaging the paper with working it too much.. ugh... so ok... here it is.... oh.. there is more room above his head some, but I had to crop it as to get a nice edge so ya'll know how that works... And Suzanne's hair was flying away from her face so if you are wondering what that fuzz is about her head it is fly away hair.. as well on the top of her forehead on the left, yep that is not a bruse!! LOL,,, in real life it looks more like hair in the painting....if you could see the pic you would understand more.... so it kind of gives her a halo look around the head in the pic, but it is a little more ash, but I had to go with a little more blondish as not to loose it in the tree behind her....

Thanks for looking.
