I've never seen the ukes before. Very cool idea! Our family does the lei thing to for our grads, but never origami nor themed. Love it when other fam members are creatively inclined. Fingers crossed you'll change your mind and post yours.

Hawaiian themed origami money graduation lei

My sis-in-law's family has a tradition of family members making a meaningful lei for the graduates. My brother made this one for my oldest nephew (his son) who just graduated from high school. I can't believe my baby nephew is going to college already! My nephew loves Hawaiian things - plays ukulele & has been wanting to go there (they're taking a family trip there to celebrate), so my brother created assorted Hawaiian images from money! You can see ukuleles, Hawaiian shirts, sharks, etc... I'm pretty impressed w/ what he did here. (Our lei is NYC themed... not sure if I'll post pics of it, perhaps...)
