OMG!! this card really ROCKS!! I love all the thought you put into it! the details are priceless! I love the idea you used for the clouds, into my faves!
Refreshing to read how much thought you put into your work - very cute card. I am forwarding this link to my daughter, Mrs.Bean. She loves Hello Kitty.
shcg: I LOVE this! What an awesome concept and wonderful execution. I can only imagine how long it took to piece HK together there, but she is too cute and I love how she stands out among the clouds. Beautifully done!
SHCG - Way neato, Brenda, I love all the thought you put into this! The skywriting/cloud 9 concept is excellent - I like both the silver-pp-plane-flyin kitty as well as the silhouetted one on the right, flyin away after writing her message in the sky, so cute. And there's deeper meaning too, considering you're furparents of your own kitty IRL. Kudos to you for utilizing those scraps & revisiting glitter the old fashioned way. I knew the "8" & "12" would be explained eventually...while confusing to a casual viewer, it is superspecial that it's your anni date presented in a way only insiders would get. Happy Anniversary to you & the schrubby!! xoxox
SHCG: Great card! Happy Anniversary! I love the idea of the clouds and HK with her plane leaving notes int he sky for A! The 9 looks awesome on the cloud, so are the clouds behind the black HK! I love it all!
SHCG: Cute and creative and I especially love the Hello, Kitty airplane because my DH is a pilot and I am a SUCKER for aviation related stuff because of him.
This is the card I made my schrubby for our 9th wedding anniversary. It's the first time I used the Hello Kitty Greetings and Font Cricut cartridges, which is why I didn't quite get the spacing right on the 2 1/2" HK image. The shimmery rainbow paper is actually silver metallic. Any smaller would've been difficult, because the tiny pieces are so tiny I had to just cut from slivers of scrap. Actually, I fashioned the whole card from scraps. I cut the star from white cs and colored it with gold gel pen. The 9 is from red cs, coated in loose glitter the old fashioned way (What a mess!), and mounted on foam adhesive.
I got the idea for this card from the phrase "on cloud 9". Then, I thought of playing up cloud themes which was what led me to the skywriting idea in the card and why I inked the edges in a silver "lining". The letters inside were cut from white paper scraps that I had previously run through my Xyron for other projects. I cut the cloud puffs from the batting that comes in jewelry gift boxes and mounted on mini glue dots. I considered using felt, but I like the wispier look of these.
There are nine clouds. Wherever clouds overlap, I've made sure that two different textures (criss cross v. horizontal) are next to each other so that they are distinct from one another irl. In the scan, it's hard to tell where one cloud ends and where the overlapped one begins. The silver numbered clouds mark our wedding date. The third cloud is also mounted on foam adhesive and holds three little words (my abbreviation and rearrangement). Yep, a lot of thought went into this card.
I plan on making a variation of this card for my friends' upcoming first wedding anniversary. It should be simpler and not take as long. It'll have the same HK image, one bigger cloud, and she'll be toting a banner where I'll either handwrite or stamp Happy Anniversary.
