This is one of my all time faves as well!! I have reread and reread this book so much that the pages are a tad bit distressed at the corners ;)
Great lo about a wonderful book. I love how you not only put the quote on the page but also did the hidden journaling ~ with wonderful journaling too, I might add!! TFS!
I put a quote from the book on the page itself and the journaling is hidden behind. You just pull the tab with the button on it.
Journaling reads:
"I judge a book by the first line. If it grabs me I read the first paragraph. If I still want to know more it ends up on my nightstand. This book sucked me in within seconds. At a beefy 897 pages I was curious if the author really needed all those pages and if he did this better be one helluva story. I was definitely NOT disappointed. I had read Wally Lamb before and loved his previous work. SO much that I had anticipated this new book for what seemed like forever. I was positively consumed by the story. I read it in 2 days non-stop staying up until sunrise or until I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer, whichever came first. Every character became a piece of my heart and soul. I cried, laughed, cheered and cursed. I felt my heart break in a millions pieces only to be buoyed by a sea of hope and joy. THIS was a great book.
After reading feverishly for hours on end and very much neglecting every other aspect of my life I had finally reached the final two chapters of the book. As I finished chapter 47 and started on 48 I noticed that 47 had been printed TWICE. I panicked. It was 4am and I couldn’t just go GET another book…I thought they had repeated 47 and left 48 out entirely. I started to freak out. I leafed back through the pages trying to figure out what was going on. I found that not only was 47 repeated but that pages 855-858 were printed twice as well. They appeared in their usual order in chap 47 but also were reinserted after page 870 but still numbered as 855-858. NOT a nice thing to realize at 4am when you literally have PAGES left to finish a book! After sorting through it for a few VERY heated minutes I realized that 48 was completely intact and read through to the beautiful ending of the story of Dominic and Thomas Birdsey - two identical twins, one “normal” and the other suffering from schizophrenia. Their story spans generations including their mother and their grandfather. It sounds mundane but this tale completely captured me. I try to reread this book at least once a year and when I do it’s like visiting old friends. Actually, I’m way overdue in visiting, so it’s now on my nightstand waiting to welcome me into it’s pages every night before bed. I love reading and while I have many favorites, this one is at the very top of my list and will probably stay there."
