We left early as we had a lot of traveling to do. We were headed to Macpherson country: Kingussie and Newtonmore. Right outside of Newtonmore, we decided to stop at the Dalwhinnie Distillary. We visited the gift shop, but declined a tour of the distillery itself, time being of the essence. We picked up a few souvenirs in the shop: of couple of wee bottles of Single Malt (Dalwhinnie and Cardhu) and a large pewter shot glass.
Back on the road, about 11:00 a.m. or so, our next stop would be Newtonmore, to locate the Clan Macpherson Museum and St. Bride's Church of Scotland and it's pastor in order to renew our vows. We found the museum closed and could not locate the curator to get a quick look inside, so it was off to locate Reverend Irene Gillespie. We located her at the Manse (the rectory) and she agreed to do the "rededication ceremony" at the church. We changed clothes at the Manse, Tony into his kilt and jacket and me, into a long skirt, blouse, vest and tartan sash. Then we drove over to the church where we had the brief ceremony. We then returned to the Manse for tea and to change back into our traveling clothes.
On the way out, we stopped at the post office to mail a postcard and I picked up a copy of the Ceilidh, Badenoch's monthly magazine. Regrettably, we didn't stop in at the Highland Folk Museum which we later learned was open at the time.
