SHCG: Great pictures for the card, it's so different. The green paper, I would make that square bigger so you don't have so much white space around the border, and maybe add a little embellie on the corner. Great job :)
SHCG: Great idea to put your own photo on a card. The first thing that popped into my mind was just an idea, but one I wanted to share. How neat would this picture be if they were photoshopped and made to look vintage? I think you could make a really old fashioned looking Christmas card. Anway, back to your card. My suggestion would be to add something dimensional - like a few brads or as someone else suggested, some holly.
shcg: I like your use of photos on these cards. I wish that there was some sort of greeting on the front of it like Brenda suggests. Creating equal borders around the entire card would help balance it a bit more as well.
SHCG: I like this idea for Christmas cards, as if it read something like "Warm Holiday Wishes from Seattle." I have two suggestions: 1) narrow the right and left margins so they're consistent with the bottom margin; and 2) I can see holly leaves in the upper left corner of the photo to fill in some of the white space. Great festive look to this, Michelle.
SHCG - Michelle, you've made some very cool, simple cards! I LOVE how you incorporated your own holiday photos, recording the place & time - it's like a greeting card & postcard all in one. The holiday-ish pp & ribbon complete this perfectly, as you don't need much than what you already got here on this greetingpostcard! Now you did ask for cardmaking tips in the thread, I will share a couple general things but I don't necessarily think they apply to these cards, as I think these are very nice already. I too was never that into cardmaking because I was clueless about what to do design-wise; a cardmaking friend suggested that since I was already a scrapper, try to use your sb LOs (or perhaps anyone else's) as inspiration & kinda make your card a mini version. AND to do a LO-inspired card right after you scrap the LO, so you have the materials already out. I thought these were genius suggestions, so perhaps you can try it out for yourself sometime! :)
This is my first attempt to make my own cards. I started out with the white around, as in a frame and ended up progressing further out (less white showing)
