Deep with intense emotion...I am glad you were able to divert disaster, but saddened at the loss for the other folks....this title is rich with meaning and the layout goes beyond discription!! TFS!!
Absolutely breathtaking Pat!! You captured the beauty and the heartbreak and blended them together so wonderfully (sigh). I love your techniques and colors :) Stunning work!!
This is just awesome..so sad about the 5 lives lost and I understand how you felt when you found that out later on. Love the darkness of this. It is fitting and contrast in the photo is wonderful. Beautiful layout.
Lisa, I'm glad that you're pleased with what I did with your LO. I knew as soon as I saw it, it would be the perfect bones and muscle for this page. All I did was change the skin and makeup a little bit!
This is fantastic -- really moving and beautiful, but like you said, dark at the same time. Superb! I'm really flattered that you liked my silly little LO enough to lift, but this is in a totally different league. *clap, clap, clap*
Such a stunning layout! You did an awesome job on this lift and great distressing too. Journaling is very moving. I can't imagine living in fear of killer storms constantly. Glad you are ok and prayers to the families of those lost.
Pat, this is a wonderful LO and a great way to mourn those who lost their lives that day. We are so greatful that you were home, to take this photo, and every time you look at this LO, you will be touched. This is why we scrap.
Killer storms are just a fact of life where I live. I drove home from work through this one, and was three minutes ahead of it when it touched down in Harrah, Oklahoma on its way to Tecumseh, where it killed five people.
When I got home, the first thing I did was turn on the television so I could see the radar and news updates. When I saw the devastation and realized how close it was to where I had just come from, I definitely said a big prayer of thanks to the Creator of the Universe. Then I went out and took pictures of the sky.
In this photo, the tornado is actually on the ground about 15 miles away. At that distance, you can't see the funnel, just the bruised color of the sky. I have no word to describe the emotion I felt when I realized later that five people had died while I was outside taking pictures of the storm that killed them.
I wanted to keep the theme sort of dark - my way of mourning those five lives, but I also knew I wanted to scrap this photo as soon as I downloaded it off my camera. The purple color of the sky against the bright green of the trees - it's just a really great color contrast.
I did this page for a couple of challenges. First was Tina's "Six Layers of Distressing" for Swirlydoos. We were supposed to create a handmade rose for that challenge as well. I made mine from one of the La Vie En Rose kit papers. Second was for the May "Lift your Favs" challenge. I lifted Dancinirish90's "1st Checkup".
Thanks for looking. I appreciate your comments!
Check out http://www.swirlydoos.com for kit information! They really are beautiful kits!
