A typical shot when I'm about to shoot a picture of my girls...heavy sigh. 12x15 lo. Thanks for looking!
- Made the "ghost" flowers out of 2 layers of transparencies cut with my Coluzzle template since all the LSS in my area were out of the Heidi Swapp shapes...oh well, just had to make do. Doodled on them with SlickWriter pens. They came out kinda cool, I think.
- All journaling is hidden behind the top pic.
- Title was printed on transparency.
JOURNALING:
"Missed again! Yes, this is the story of my life of taking photos of you girls. Just when I thought I had it all - a nice background (subtle and didn’t clash with your clothes), nice lighting (natural daylight), cute, colorful clothes that coordinated with each other, you both seated facing in the same direction (a rarity at this age), your hair tied back and not in your eyes (your usual preference), your faces smiling at me (without the scrunchiness) – just when I was about to snap – Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooooarrrr goes the sound of an airplane flying overhead. And the moment is lost.
Your faces turn in opposite directions. Your eyes lift skyward. The giggles and smiles are replaced by shouts of “Airplane, Mommy!”, repeated three times for emphasis…or just to make sure I was paying attention.
Okay so this is not a perfect picture. You guys are not looking at the camera with cute little smiles or giggles that make your heart laugh. But it’s a picture that tells a story that repeats itself over and over and over again. This is not an isolated incident. It happens. Constantly. It’s no wonder we have [digital] folders and folders of pictures of you two.
It’s not that it takes forever to take a picture. On the contrary, I have a very expensive, very nice digital SLR for just these moments. No, it’s a matter of seconds to snap a photo - but oftentimes, it’s one second too much. And this photo is proof that, well, I tried. And missed. Again.
*************************
The bottom two photos are so typical of you two at this stage of your lives. You LOVE picking the flowers in the backyard. Actually, you LOVE picking the petals of the flowers in the backyard. Neither of you likes dealing with the effort of pulling the whole flower and stem from the bush when what you really want are the petals anyway. Someday, you’ll learn that keeping the stem and center of the flower together with the petals makes it much easier to carry around. Someday.
Your choice of flower holders is somewhat unique as well. You do have cute little baskets you could bring outside to gather your blooms but no. You prefer to reach for your Caterpillar trucks. After all, if they can carry dirt, they can certainly do the job with flowers.
