Wednesday, February 2nd – We slept late then sat on our balcony and clipped each other's toenails. How romantic! The direct morning sun is excruciatingly diabolical so we didn't stay on the balcony very long. So many of the guests were ghastly white and obviously trying to get a dark bronze tan in one day or less and instead were turning into lobsters. We watched one young woman get so beet red we are sure there was a lot of pain involved later; in fact much pain later for a lot of them.
We came back in the room and checked our computers to give the direct sun time to pass and become less intense.
From our balcony we could see a restaurant downstairs with a wall of glass overlooking the pools and the ocean. In front of the glass wall was a shallow pool with 5 tables set up in the water. You step into the pool and walk through the water to your table (the water level is below the seat of the chairs) and eat while sitting in the water. What a great place for lunch! You can order from the restaurant or the pool snack bar and they bring it to your table. The restaurant menu was fancier than we wanted so we made the mistake of ordering from the pool snack bar. The French fries were okay but the nachos and the hamburger were pretty bad.
Even with a meal that was marginally edible, it was still so nice to eat there – the water kept us nice and cool. However, I was wearing my bathing suit and got more sun than I should have on my face and shoulders but not enough to hurt or peel. I just have to be more careful.
Bill kept looking at the couples around the pool and saying, “I wonder if that is wedding girl?” because we never got a good luck at their faces last night, just knew they were both slim and she had hair below her shoulders.
