Hi! Again, thanks for letting us use your layout. The blog post is now live and you can check it out here: https://scrapbookcampus.com/2020/09/theme-trees/ :)
Journaling: October 6, 2007 - I wanted to go hiking so we went to Sylvania in the U.P. to see the old-growth forest and walk the trail to Whitefish Lake. No motors of any kind are permitted on land or water, so it is supremely peaceful and beautiful. These are a few of the leaves I collected.
I laminated the leaves with my Xyron after I pressed and dried them. The stickers between the pp and the torn vellum in the middle say: discover [Nature's peace] hug a tree. The stickers on the photos along the bottom say: into the woods forest GET OUTDOORS scenic beauty escape. I used a Zig Vellum Writer to journal on the photo.
On the back of this LO, I attached an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet with the story of the ownership and use of this land from 1895 to the present. It is 30 square miles that were originally owned by a small group of wealthy men who used it as a private hunting and fishing camp. This is what saved it from ever being logged out. When the last owners died in the 1960's, the US Forest Service purchased it under the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund Act. It's a pretty interesting story, actually. I'll post the full text in my blog here at sb.com for anyone who would like to read it.
