Elvis is buried on the grounds behind the mansion. In the lower left photo you see the back of the mansion in the upper part of the photo. Directly in front of that is the kidney-shaped pool (same pool in photo on the opposite page). Below the pool is a round the round memorial pool and fountain and the graves for Elvis, both of his parents, and his grandmother are lined around the base of the fountain.

The statue (below center) is Gladys Presley's original monument from Forest Hill. Behind the graves is a little shelter with stained glass windows and columns. From left to right, Elvis' grandmother is buried far left, (visible in the photo on the left). Elvis is buried in the second grave which is to the right of his grandmother, then Vernon, then Gladys is buried on the right of the others. Next to Gladys, but not visible in any of the photos is a another small memorial marker for Elvis' twin who died at birth. An eternal flame burns continually in a glass cube at the head of Elvis' grave.

A sign says, “Meditation Garden: For security purposes, Vernon Presley, with special permission from the city, had the gravesites of Elvis and his mother, Gladys, moved from Forest Hill Cemetery to Graceland in October of 1977. Since then the garden has become the final resting place for Elvis' father & paternal grandmother as well. A small marker has also been placed in memory of Elvis' stillborn twin brother. The large marble cross was Gladys Presley's original monument at Forest Hill. The statue of Jesus with outstretched arms was a gift to Elvis from his friends on Christmas.” The inscription continues to tell who designed the Memorial Garden and explains this garden offered Elvis a private serene area for meditation, reflection and quiet contemplation.
