Easter Sunday, April 24th – It seemed odd to be flying on Easter Sunday. We boarded a C-5 at the terminal on Hickam and arrived early evening at Travis AFB outside San Francisco. It was good to be re-united with our van (we left it at Travis when we flew to Hawaii) and our clothes that we had not taken to Hawaii with us. In fact, we had been in Hawaii for almost a month and had taken very little with us. Most of our things we had brought from Florida and used in Las Vegas and California were stored in the van.
Bright and early… okay, not so bright and not so early; we don't do bright and early very well. But mid-morning we drove back to San Francisco to spend the day. We spent the first part of the day on Pier 39, then to Ghirdelli Square and then Bill showed me the Haight-Ashbury district of the city.
By then it was threatening to get dark so we drove to Fremont to join Bill's friend, Vic Artega at one of his favorite restaurants. That was followed by a very good night's sleep at Vic's house – he has such a beautiful home!
