I kept looking @ my trinchies (can also be called minis) (3"x3" squares that are embellished 4 times) for the August Monos, Munchkins, & Minis Swap and I was liking them less and less...I didn't know WHAT I didn't like, but they just weren't good enough to send in for a swap. I was dismayed at the thought of having to toss out the HAND-STITCHED cupcakes, which took like 4 hours to do! How could I improve these I asked? Well, I decided to try inking the edges. the VERY left one on the bottom was my first attempt (I'm keeping that one--it is still kinda ugly), it was too harsh, but I loved the way inking the edges completed the mini/trinchie. So I tried with the TH/Adirondack Blending Tool & Foam (the top row, middle) and I liked that one better, but the ink was a bit too harsh. Finally, it came to me, I didn't need to change the tool, but the type of ink I was using. I dug through my bin next to my chair and found the Cat's Eyes Chalk Inks--AH HA! This was it! The chalk ink completed the mini/trinchie the same, but had a softer look! It is hard to see in the small pic, but if you enlarge the pic you can see the inked edges & I really like these trinchies MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better now! I am ok to put my name on them & sent them in for a swap...I hope my swap-mates like them too....!
