The helicopter ride was just long enough. Our first sights the pilot pointed out were the results of the constant encroachment of the lava flows. Upper right is a road that's been cut off. Lower left is a home that is now completely surrounded by the lava. The owner hires a helicopter once a week to fly out and get his groceries. Lower right the little that's left of a residential area; you can see a tiny dot of red, that's the last home burning. Onward to the volcano! Tfl.
