This LO is perfect. Great colors, balance, design. It is perfect to have the column of pics on the left. Everything goes together nicely. I'm trying to learn from your work.
Great pics and wonderful balance. I like that you have one of Leah looking through the binoculars (not sure what those are really called ;)!) I have to remind myself to take candid shots - I have a tendency to try to make sure everyone is looking at my camera before I take a pic, and I need to get more candid shots. One suggestion, when doing a date vertically, I don't include the comma between the day and the year because it just looks a little odd to me to have a random comma, and just a space works well. Just something for you to try if you wabnt to.
I love the folded corner! I agree, this is a well balanced page! You know how to choose the right colors and I really wouldn't have known this was your first time doing digital! Everything here's perfect!
Again, Ilene, I agree with Chandra - your LOs always look so "smooth" to me and your color choices are top-notch. These photos are wonderful and I can't think of anything else you could do differently this year, other than maybe shoot some other sights around the zoo grounds? Maybe a photo of the actual zoo sign? Or, if there's a gift shop, you could take a fun indoor shots of rows of souveniers lined up together (use a telephoto lens if you have one and take the photo at an angle).
This LO (and the photos) are perfect just they way you have them here...

The photography is amazing and I love the colors in this. As always, your balance between the two pages is stunning. I love all the detail. I don't have any comments for your photography on this one.
NC Zoo - Asheboro, NC, July 2005 *** It's easy to see whose the boss. We watched this lion for a long time, hoping he would go inside the enclosure so that the lioness Would come outdoors with her 2 young cubs. But he did not go in and we did not see the lioness or the cubs. The king of the jungle can lay anywhere he wants for as long as he wants, and nobody, I mean nobody, tells him when he has to get up and go inside. *** It's not bad being king of the apes either. *** It was a beautiful day for a visit to the zoo. The temp was in the nineties, but the humidity was not too high so we were all comfortable. It was also a good day for the animals. They seemed quite happy to be outdoors. *** Great care is invested in the design and maintenance of the landscape. Poncirus trifoliata, known as "The flying dragon" because of its vicious thorns, draped gracefully over some walkways. The photo above is the monkeys' play area. *** Digital layout made with PSE2 and Cottage Arts Simply School Days - Scraplifted left page from Field Trip Scrapover. ***
