Congrats on venturing into digi-scrapping! (I too haven't made the plunge). Though you aren't sure you're into this LO, it is great - love the earthy textures and bright splashes of orange and yellow. Also love the journaling...it's so nice to have a such a life long friend.
I too have yet to venture into the digital scrapping but this looks great! With each digital layout I see I get closer and closer to trying it. I love the muted colors you chose and the strip with the bubble words is really nice. My only suggestion would be to soften the flower's color a little. Maybe add some green as in the picture. This is a nice tribute to your friend and a great first time job at digital scrapbooking!
I don't do digital scrapbooking because I feel like I have nothing in my hands but the keyboard. LOL, other than that....I really like this layout. I like the browns mixed together and the picture looks so cute with the big smiles!
I'm with you on the digi v. paper scrapping thing... I'm too overwhelmed with the options that exist within my computer! Still, you did a great job with this one! As a critique group buddy I would say, Love the browns, love the texture, I'm with some of the other girls on the flowers, great detail on the embellishments, and since you were stuck on a title I was wondering about just putting different synonyms for "friends" in different fonts & density to the right of the pic? Just a thought!
Seriously, it's great left as-is, but since you asked for help that's all I got! LOL
Wow, this is pretty cool for digital scrappin'. I am amazed at what can be done. I like the muted colors of the paper, great picture, and I love the strip down the side with the bubble words. Great job!
Nice layout! I've yet to do digital scrapping but will get to it one day LOL. I love the colors but maybe just use one big flower on the side of the journaling. of a softer more muted color simiilar to the colors in your layout. Great picture.
I like the visual interest you added with the strip down the left and its word-buttons. I can't quite put my finger on what trips me up about this layout - it might be the extreme contrast between the muted background and the ultra-bright flowers is just a little too much... and I would've pushed the single flower and journaling a little more to the left, leaving a bit more space to the right of the journaling block. Otherwise, I like the shades of brown and love the smiles on your faces in the photo. :)
This is my first digital LO. I don't know if I'm completely won over by this type of scrapbooking. Since I do a lot of graphic design, I tend to get caught up in all of the techniques that I know and try too hard to tweak it to my liking, versus paper scrapbooking where I'm limited to what I have in supplies and ability (which is far more limited).
It ended up looking like such a simple page, that I'm just not sure if I'm "into" it.
Supplies used:
Everything except the flower: DigitalScrapbookPlace.Com Iced Coffee The flower: JBaechtold (I don't know if this is a kit from Scrapbook Answers CD or if it was a free kit from ComputerScrapbook.com)
