Oh My..... This page is absolutely breathtaking?! I just don't know where to begin with what makes it so so amazing?? The colours and mixed media, the wonderful treasures that you used to embellish, the metal layered behind the photo (great idea to leave edge of this on, adds to the history/story). The swivel clasps coming down with (I think) ribbon hanging totally reflects the idea of stirrups on the horse. Your swirl cuts outs, distressing, ppr rolling, addition of drywall tape..... Where do I stop, seriously? Every part of this page is exceptional & I cannot stop looking at it again & again. Each time I see another piece that I think is fab! Gabrielle is one of the most talented and inspiring mixed media artists I have the pleasure of following & I am sure her comment means so much to you. Totally a fave for me too, I only hope my comment has done it justice!!! Wow!! :))
Awesome page Elizabeth!! And congrats on trying out some new techniques! (thanks for the sweet mention as well! xo) This is such a beautifully embellished page (love the metal accents peeking out of the sides of the photo! fave for me! xo xo
I loved the days when all the cousins would climb on that one old trusted horse and ride it around the yard. I like the leather embelly. It's neat that you used your mom's buttons. I had to really look for the arrowheads, haha. Great take on the letters. Great page.
Awesome, Elizabeth - love how you're steeping out of your comfort zone - the hatband on the swivel clasp is so neat and I love how you've mixed the buttons with the flowers ~
love this, Elizabeth, and wasn't it fun coming up with the 5 ingredients to spell April? Such a great photo and everything you used suits the feel of it so well-love the lacing and congrats on using texture paste-it looks awesome!
interesting pieces placed together, I really like all the pieces together. You did a fantastic layout using so many elements, yet the speak without words
OMGosh everything about this is amazing and delightful! I love the metal and leather you added. The overall design is outstanding. Wonderful details! FAVE!
Gorgeous layout! Love all the elements and techniques on here!! I need to remember to ask mom if she still has her old button box.......I sure hope so:)
WOW girl, you did an amazing job & I love, love, love everything about this from the papers, masking, & all your attention to details! I just can't stop looking at it & then I find something else! AWESOME!:))
Beautiful page!! Love all your details!! Buttons, flowers, butterflies.. So many things to look at, your stenciling, (great job) lacing, layering, punching, pprs and wonderful heritage photo. Love it Elizabeth!!
Hi Scrapper Friends. Well, here's my layout for April! I call this one "Ol" Brownie". This photo was taken in Dodson, Texas at my Uncle Oliver and Aunt Jerry's old place. The horse was my uncle's and from what I was told, he was very gentle. My mom is holding me in her arms and my sister and brothers are on Brownie. What's funny is Brown is my maiden name. I almost titled this "The Browns on Ol' Brownie"! :-) I left the border of the picture on it because it has the date and studio where it was developed and I thought that was interesting.
My husband gave me the arrowheads awhile back. The leather piece was from a hatband my son Sam took off one of his cowboy hats. All the buttons are from Mom's old button collection.
This was the first time I'd ever used texture paste! I finally got around to making some using Gabrielle Pollacco's tutorial...thank you Gabi! It was also a first time for me of using eyelets and lacing, also inspired by Gabrielle. The paper rolling in the corners is something I always admired about Rachelle's (Rachie Babe) style so thought I would try that out.
I got out all the supplies I wanted to use on this plus made a list of techniques I wanted to use also. Cheesecloth was the only item in my supply list I ended up not using! The Prima rubber stamp was from my dear friend Marylou! Thank you!
Going to enter this one in the APRIL challenge... A - Arrowheads P - Punching R - Roses/Rings I - Inked edges L - Leather/layering/lacing
Thank you so much for stopping by and viewing my layout. I so appreciate all the feedback.
