Journaling reads: Senior Night, October 15th, 2004 started as a cold, rainy, miserable night. It ended up a cold, wet and painful night.Wes and I did the standard walk across the field. This year it was very unorganized and with a very, very small crowd. After the pictures were taken Barb Summers and I went up in the bleachers to watch the game. Near the end of the first quarter I decided to go get something to eat and retrieve my Sr. Program. As I stepped onto the wooden steps at the bottom of the bleachers some how I fell. I don’t know if I slipped, missed the step or both. But, the next thing I knew I was on the track and not able to get up, my right ankle felt like it was broke. Some nice guys helped me up to sit on the step I jest fell off, while someone else ran and got Dr. Myles. Of course the first words out of Dr. Myles mouth was I see it runs in the family. He checked my ankle and told me it was up to me if I thought I wanted to go to the emergency room on a Friday night. I decided that I should stay at the game in case something happened to Wes. The same nice guys helped me limp over to the concession stand where they got a couple of folding chairs for me and I sat wrapped up like a mummy thanks to Barb. Barb also went to the trainer and got some ice for my ankle and gathered up all of our stuff out of the bleachers.By half time I was shaking uncontrollably and my ankle was so painful it was making me sick. Barb brought her van in the stadium to beside the concession stand and helped me get in it. Mandy took my keys and brought my car home while Jason Baldwin followed Mandy to the house and then helped me get in the house. When I took my shoe off my ankle ballooned up the size of a cantaloupe Barb and I looked at each other and agreed I needed it x-rayed. Barb helped me get some dry clothes on and Jason helped me back out to Barb’s van and to the hospital we went!Luckily after numerous x-rays and a couple of pokes by the doctor, he said no broken bones, and put me in an air cast and sent me home with some Tylenol 3 and orders to stay off my ankle, keep it elevated, iced and to rest! Ha! Ha! Like that can happen in this life time. The Worse part of the entire night is that I missed Wes’s last home game. And the Coach has a special walk through with the community members thanking the seniors for playing.Paper is Slab IV
