One of many to come of Mackenzie's first birthday. She really made a mess of herself with that blue icing, but it was worth it! Paper is Mustard Moon and seemed so perfect for these photos. I cut her birthday candle in half lengthwise so that it would lay flat in her album. The frame around the candle is made with Artistic Expressions pre-scored foamboard (genius!!) and I covered it with more Mustard Moon.

“Mackenzie’s first real taste of anything sweet was the cupcake she ate on her first birthday. Dad had given her a tiny taste of his cheesecake at lunch a couple of weeks before, but this was her very first dessert of her own. She was entranced by the flame of her birthday candle and was in awe as an entire room full of family and friends sang “Happy Birthday” to her. She couldn’t wait to get her hands on the icing and the texture made her laugh. Finally, she got the courage to taste it and she was in heaven! She took several bites before throwing it on the floor (which is actually very good for her these days). The very next day we caught her eating several chocolate coins that were leftover from Christmas. I think she may have already developed a craving for the sweet stuff!”

Thanks for looking!
