Wowza… this was a toughie! Trying on someone's style that isn't your own really was tougher than I thought! I don't ever want to read someone say that what Elsie Flannigan does is easy! Phew! Elsie's love of ribbon inspired me to scraplift this LO because I love ribbon also! Here's my page and then Elsie's. I think for me, this exercise taught me a lot about my style. It taught me that while I can be adventurous with color and layout, I still want some clean lines and not too much going on! I just couldn't put the cut-out words and the journaling around the edge with all that ribbon and the brads and sequins. I did take some license, obviously, but for me, to be true to who I am, I changed the LO when I felt it was deviating too much from who I am. Doing this also gave me the freedom to play with supplies other than PP (which I love matching up, cross-brand a lot of times, rather than using the combos given to me by the companies) and this LO was really fun (I felt the label of “freestyle” freed me up to be a bit less of a perfectionist). I would still label my style as ecclectic, but classically so. Thank you Ali!So, we've got some Bazzil cardstock and Christina Cole PP. The ribbons are May Arts, American Crafts, Michaels and Offray. The brads are MM, Queen & Co. and are used with some vintage sequins from a little bag I found and saved from my Grandma's stash as a kid. There's a HS heart on there also. Rub-on letters are MM and if you look, there's a tag behind the photo that has journaling talking about how much it means to me that my mom and my husband really love each other and get along so well! TFL!
